Nikon D4, the wait is nearly over

Today Nikon officially released the Nikon D4 for sale, hopefully the wait is nearly over for those of us lucky enough to have one on order. The Nikon D4 looks to be an awesome camera for the working professional, especially for wedding, event, and sports photographers. It seems to have been a long wait for the top of the line model from Nikon to get a refresh, and an antagonizing wait since the announcement back in January to today. However the wait isn’t really over. I visited my local pro dealer today and paid the remaining balance on my D4 order and I asked when are we likely to see the camera, sadly they didn’t know :( All my fingers and toes are crossed my D4 arrives in the next week or so. I can’t imagine how the Canon camp feels about the 1Dx, which was announced back in October 2011!

Nikon D4 quick over view:
RESOLUTION: 16.2MP
SPEED: 10fps (11 with auto focus and metering off)
ISO RANGE: 100-12,800 with Hi settings up to 204,800
AUTO FOCUS: 51 points, works at up to -2EV and f8
MEMORY CARDS: Dual slot. 1 x XQD and 1 x Compact Flash
BUFFER: 105 RAW with XQD and 79 with CF

Canon 5DMk3 Pricing in Australia continued

So it looks like the list price of the Canon 5Dmk3 is:
- around the AUD4k mark
- and around USD3.5k (from the US)
The discrepancy in pricing is huge (around AUD650 based on today’s exchange rates) so Canon… please explain….

Hate to think how much the new 600EX-RT radio flash and 1DX is going to be… my money is on a big discrepancy :(

5D Mk 3 and Canon Please explain?

So Canon has finally announced the 5DMkIII and it is a ripper of a camera. If the reviews of this camera is what it cracks up to be then it would definitely be the camera of choice for us wedding photographers. There are moments when you need to capture the emotions during the dance floor and to realise your flash is set up incorrectly!!!! However this brings me to the next point… why on earth is there such a BIG I mean BIG difference between the US price and the AUS price? Why Canon Why? The estimated US price is USD3499 (approx AUD3305) and the estimated AUD price is AUD4399, that is a difference of approx AUD1100??? How on earth is this possible? Why are Australians always ripped off? This is certainly a Canon please explain?
